YOKOHAMA, Japan (Apr. 28, 2021) – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced production, sales and export figures for March 2021 and the period from April 2020 – March 2021.

Production
Notes:
  1. “Others” represents the combined total of production in markets including Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, France, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Russia, South Africa, Taiwan and Thailand (excluding complete knock-down production).“
  2. “China production includes Dongfeng-brand passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles.
March 2021
Nissan’s global production in March increased 49.7% from a year earlier.
  • Production in and outside Japan surpassed year-earlier results by 24.7% and 56.4%, respectively.
  • April 2020 - March 2021Nissan’s global production for the April 2020-March 2021 period declined 17.1% from a year earlier.
  • Production in and outside Japan declined 31.8% and 14.2% from a year-earlier, respectively.
  • Production in China surpassed year-earlier results by 16.3%, setting a record for the April – March period.
Sales

  1. Japan sales are categorized into passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles based on chassis.
  2. Europe sales include Israel.
  3. China sales figures (excluding commercial vehicles) have been retail since January 2015. Year-on-year percentage change excludes commercial vehicles.
  4. China sales include Dongfeng-brand passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles.
March 2021
Global sales in March increased 50.8% from a year earlier.
  • Sales in Japan including mini-vehicles increased 17.4% from a year earlier.
  • Sales in Japan of registered vehicles surpassed year-earlier results by 19.6%.
    Mini vehicle sales in Japan surpassed year-earlier results by 14.1%.
  • Sales outside Japan surpassed year-earlier results by 58.5%.
April 2020 - March 2021
Global sales for the April 2020-March 2021 period declined 12.4% from the year earlier.
  • Sales in Japan including mini-vehicles declined 10.6% from the year earlier.
  • Mini vehicle sales in Japan surpassed year-earlier results by 1.3%.
  • Sales outside Japan declined 12.6% from the year earlier.
  • Sales in China surpassed year-earlier results by 13.7%, setting a record for the April – March period.

  1. Exports are the total of complete build-up and complete knock-down vehicles (based on data from JAMA).
  2. Export regions are based on JAMA geographic divisions. (Mexico is included in “Others.”)

Exports from Japan in March surpassed year-earlier results by 32.2%.

April 2020 - March 2021
Exports from Japan for the April 2020-March 2021 period declined 33.6% from the year earlier.
