Pretoria, South Africa – Mercedes-Benz Cars South Africa would like to announce the appointment of Terence Steenkamp in the role of Media Specialist. Terence replaces Lebohang Matsoso, who has moved to a Brand Specialist role. Terence is responsible for media strategy and engagement, which includes the managing of all media queries and requests, as well as the Friends of the Brand programme.
Terence joins Mercedes-Benz South Africa following a varied career in media and PR. He graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2005 with a BA Languages specializing in journalism, and completed his BPhil Honours degree in Journalism at the University of Stellenbosch the following year. Terence also holds a diploma in Public Relations from the University of Cape Town.
Starting out as a News Journalist at Beeld newspaper, Terence soon moved to Wiel motoring magazine as Copy Editor before occupying the same role at Getaway and then CAR – South Africa’s oldest and most-respected motoring media brand – where he would move up the ranks to Associate Editor, Deputy Editor and finally Editor.
After CAR, Terence was a freelance Social Media Strategist for John Brown Media; acted as Launch Editor of the first issue of APEX, a glossy motoring title; and then kicked off his public relations career at Kia South Africa as PR and Communications Manager before joining the Mercedes-Benz Cars marketing team at the beginning of July 2022.
