Although Covid-19 has brought open-air gatherings of more than 50 or 60 people to a screeching halt, this has not put the brakes on the popular Lexus Classics music concert.
Normally hosted at the Sun Arena in Menlyn, Gauteng - where it has brought local concertgoers to their feet for the last five years, the 2020 version of Lexus Classics will be taking hits of the past into a digital future this Friday (31 July) - right in your lounge at home. The Lexus Classics will this year offer the biggest hits of all time by artists including Timothy Moloi, Corlea, Boki, Demi Lee Moore, Siki Jo-An, Monique Steyn, and Ruhan du Toit, accompanied by a mini symphony orchestra.
“It will be stunning; it’s just like the original Lexus Classics, just a digital version,” said Demi Lee Moore backstage during the recent recording. “We will once again sing the greatest hits of legendary artists of all time,” she confirmed.
Adding a Touch of Class to the Lexus Classics will be Ruhan du Toit, who brought the Simon & Garfunkel hit “Sound of Silence” back to life.
Concertgoers tuning in to the digital concert on Friday can also look forward to other popular classic hits such as “Wicked Games” sung by Corlea and Adele’s “Hello” performed by Demi Lee Moore. The Abba medley will get concert viewers at home on their feet.
Tickets are available at R120 on Computicket at stayin.computicket.com, but Lexus and Toyota owners who download the MyLexus app or the MyToyota app can ENJOY the show free of charge. All they need to do is to download the app that is relevant to them and ensure that their vehicle is registered and loaded on the app’s ‘garage’. They will then need to access the show via a link that will be available on the app under the social tab.
The 2020 Lexus Classics concert is produced by Coleske Artists, which launched their stayIN / INbly concerts streaming service with Computicket at end of April 2020. More than 40 successful concerts have already been watched by over 120 000 people worldwide in the comfort of their own homes.
“We are delighted with the good response our stayIN / INbly concerts are enjoying,” says Barry Pretorius, director, and producer of Lexus Classics. “It started off as an initiative to assist artists in this time of need, and we are grateful that concertgoers are happy to enjoy concerts at home and support the music industry this way.”
