Toyota Dealer of the Year: Hillcrest Toyota – Warren Demmer
Customer focus was key to this dealership’s success and their attention to detail was paramount. Communication is definitely the oil in their engine. They also adhere to the firm principles of a sustainable environmental programmes within the dealership and uphold these principles as a class leader.

Lexus Dealer of the Year: Lexus Polokwane – Adri Malan
This achievement requires dedicated efforts and a balanced approach that are aligned to Lexus’s core philosophy: Experience Amazing. The year 2018 was a challenging one for the premium market and this year’s winner overcame all the odds, to finish in the top position. Lexus Polokwane showed they truly understand and identify with the Lexus brand and its values, even during these difficult times. They produced a consistent performance through committed and focussed leadership, not shying away from change.

Hino Dealer of the Year: Gansen Chetty – Hino Shelly Beach
Although they were not winners in some of the categories, they performed well overall and were close contenders in each category: overall an exceptional performance. The Dealer Principal of this dealership is a true leader who is able to motivate his team to walk the extra mile. He embraces the Hino Total Support philosophy in every aspect. The team at the dealership is always willing to exceed expectations and to ensure total customer satisfaction.

Warren Demmer of Hillcrest Toyota and his team were recognised for their exceptional performance last year and were awarded the coveted 2018 Toyota Dealer of the Year. The awards ceremony was held at the Kyalami Racetrack in Johannesburg.

Presented to a dealer that performs exceptionally in all aspects of the business, the Lexus Dealer of the Year award went to Polokwane’s Adri Malan. Gansen Chetty of Hino Shelley Beach retained their title as Hino Dealer of the Year for 2018.

Awarded annually, the Toyota Dealer Awards are based on a comprehensive set of metrics on which each dealer is measured throughout the preceding year. These measurements include customer service, environmental protection, financial performance and vehicle sales.

According to Calvyn Hamman, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM): “We are grateful to the entire dealer network for their contribution to Toyota South Africa’s remarkable market share of 24.2% in 2018. To all winners of Dealer of the Year, your outstanding performance in 2018 is real proof that strong, empathetic leadership and dedicated staff make all the difference. While the Dealer Principal is intimately involved within all areas of the business, the strong management team lead their own departments, resulting in innovative and highly motivated dealerships.”

One of the coveted awards at the event is the Chairman’s Achievement Award, presented by President and CEO of TSAM, Andrew Kirby. This year’s accolade went to John Hyde of Trophy Toyota. Hyde was recognised for having contributed immeasurably to the local community in terms of support and infrastructure. Among those assisted nearly on a weekly basis include many local community schools, non-profit organisations and charities that are too numerous to mention.

Andrew Kirby applauded the entire dealer network and all the evening’s winners for their contribution to the company’s achievement of 24.2% market share in 2018.
